A/N: Believe me when I took a long time to finish this. I started my fic for Kyuhyun's birthday but didn't complete it until recently - so I added an extra character for my birthday. LOL. I can't believe I actually tried to write myself a birthday fic. Hmm. XD
On a side note, SJM's album is released today!<3 [It's still 25th because I haven't slept yet! =p]
The first time Donghae saw Sungmin baking a cake in 2011 was for Kyuhyun.
Sungmin was just beginning to take out the necessary ingredients for baking a cake when Donghae popped his head into the kitchen.
“Hyung? What are you doing?” Donghae asked, a puzzled expression on his face.
Sungmin beamed, his eyes twinkling in excitement as he turned to face the younger.
“I’m baking a cake for Kyu, Hae-ah.”
Donghae frowned, a shade of green overriding his senses.
“You didn’t bake one for the other members last year.” ‘You didn’t bake one for me either,’ Donghae added silently.
“Well, I did bake one for Wookie and Yesung...”
Donghae bit back a retort, opting to keep his mouth shut rather than letting the other know he was jealous.
The second time Donghae saw Sungmin baking a cake was for Mingi’s birthday.
Donghae wasn’t as close to Mingi like the older was, so he didn’t know the younger’s birthday at all, and had thought Sungmin wanted a cake merely for himself. He was proved wrong when the older turned to him with a giddy smile on his face the moment he stepped in. Surprised, he raised an eyebrow in query.
Sungmin grinned, placing the cake on the counter before decorating it with his homemade icing.
“I’m excited for Mingi’s reaction to this,” he explained elatedly, his smile growing bigger with each second that Donghae didn’t think was possible.
“It’s her birthday?”
“Yeah, today. I invited her over but I doubt she knows I remembered her birthday.”
“Oh,” Donghae answered, eyes blinking for a few seconds before he glanced away from the other’s face.
He knew he shouldn’t feel jealous so easily, but what could he do? Mingi was a girl, and as far as he knew, Sungmin was extremely popular with girls, not to mention Donghae’s quite sure the other was straight – no, he was definitely sure of that. Sighing, he took a mug and filled it with water before leaving Sungmin alone in the kitchen.
Donghae made sure to stay in his room the entire time when Mingi was at the dorm. He could hear the delighted laughter and gleeful noises the couple made while playing. He tried to bury the feelings he felt, but he couldn’t stop himself from bursting out of the room and heading towards the two with lightning speed. He stopped them both in the middle of their chat and gripped Sungmin’s wrist roughly before pulling him up and into his room; blatantly ignoring the other’s protests and Mingi’s knowing look.
Slamming the door shut, Donghae pressed Sungmin against the door, the older tilting his head in puzzlement to look at him. “Hae?” He asked, confused at how the younger was acting. “Hyung,” he breathed out, fisting his hand in Sungmin’s hair as he placed his face into the nape of the elder’s neck.
“I...” He paused, unable to say what he wanted. What if the other rejected him?
“Hae, are you okay?” Sungmin asked worriedly, pulling away from the other to look into his eyes.
“I... Minnie, I... Ugh, to hell with it – I love you, hyung,” Donghae exclaimed in exasperation as he lowered his eyes to the ground.
There was a small chuckle emitting from the older man before he smiled, “I know.”
“I – huh, what?” Donghae looked up, blinking blankly for a few seconds.
“I know,” Sungmin repeated, his smile widening as he added, “And I love you, too, Hae-ah.”
Grinning, Donghae stared at the man in front of him somewhat skeptically.
Upon the word of confirmation, he ecstatically wrapped his arms around the other’s waist, and pulled him in easily. Sungmin laughed, his own arms hooked behind the younger’s neck. He leant into his chest as Donghae nestled his head into the crook of the older man’s neck.
“I love you, Sungmin.”
“I love you too, Donghae.”
